hospita semi-private insurance in a nutshell

Anyone with semi-private insurance has taken out semi-private supplementary insurance for treatment in hospital. As a patient with supplementary hospital insurance, you will be accommodated in a twin room during your stay in hospital and can choose which doctor treats you (free choice of doctor). This type of insurance offers you more comfort than basic insurance, which only covers the costs of a general ward.

The main difference between semi-private and private supplementary insurance mainly lies in the ward on which you are accommodated as a patient and in the scope of benefits. With semi-private insurance, you will receive a twin room in the hospital; if you have private insurance, you can convalesce in a private room. With both options, you have a free choice of doctor and can be treated by a specialist. You can also choose your own hospital anywhere in Switzerland, as long as it is recognised by your health insurance provider. Please note our reference to hospitals without collective agreements >

Whether private or semi-private supplementary insurance is right for you depends on your needs and your budget.
