Information for policyholders resident in Switzerland
Policyholders resident in Switzerland will find here information about their basic health insurance in accordance with the Federal Act on Health Insurance (KVG) and their supplementary medical insurance in accordance with the Federal Act on Insurance Policies (VVG). Due to the rising cost of benefits, there may be adjustments to premiums from 2026. In addition to this, other factors and legal provisions can also affect individual premiums.

Insurance models
Change in age brackets
Policyholders under the age of 19 can benefit from a children’s discount on basic insurance. Young adults under 26 receive a young person’s discount. Moving to the next age bracket leads to changes to premiums. This is stipulated by the Federal Law on Sickness Insurance (KVG). The following years will be affected by changes in age brackets from 2026 onwards:
- 2007: from 2026 Young Adult premium category (previously: Children)
- 2000: from 2026 Adult premium category (previously: Young Adult)

Change in age brackets
When moving to a new age bracket, the premiums for supplementary insurance are also adjusted. The following years will be affected by changes in age brackets from 2026 onwards:
- 2022: various dental variations
- 2020: various dental variations
- 2015: various dental variations
- 2010: dental piccolo
- 2005: various dental variations, all outpatient and inpatient supplementary medical insurance products, daily allowance insurance compensa
- 2000: various dental variations, all outpatient and inpatient supplementary medical insurance products, daily allowance insurance compensa
- 1998: salto
- 1995 etc.: various dental variations, all outpatient and inpatient supplementary medical insurance products, daily allowance insurance compensa in five-year intervals
Product categories
In 2026, premiums for the supplementary outpatient insurance plans plus, premium and premium natura will remain unchanged. At plus natura, however, they must be increased as a result of rising healthcare costs.
With the supplementary inpatient insurance hospita general, policyholders will benefit from a premium reduction in 2026. The premiums for the other supplementary inpatient insurances will remain unchanged.
Premiums for compensa risk insurance will be reduced in 2026. For all other active upgrade products, the premiums will remain unchanged.
Discounts
For supplementary insurance with a no claims discount, the following applies: If a policyholder claims benefits, their individual no-claims bonus can be reduced or cancelled. If, however, they have not claimed any benefits over a certain period, the no-benefit discount is increased again.
Note: Since 2016, it has no longer been possible to take out supplementary hospitalisation insurance with a no-claims bonus.
