Sympany appoints two new Executive Board members
Florian Grunholzer will be the new Head of Finance, Underwriting & Corporate Customer Business. Fitim Arifi is taking over as Head of the Market business area.
Basel, 10 June 2026 – Sympany is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Executive Board members. Fitim Arifi (40) will join Sympany on 1 September 2026, where he will head up the Market business area. Florian Grunholzer (42) will take over as Head of the Finance, Underwriting & Corporate Customer Business area on 1 November 2026.
Fitim Arifi has been Head of Omnichannel & Digital Sales and Deputy Head of Sales & Marketing at Sanitas in Zurich since 2018. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance and his master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Zurich, he started out there in sales development and was also strategic assistant to the Head of Sales and Customer Service. Over time, he took on various management positions, including Head of Cooperations and Deputy Head of Partner Sales and Head of Sales for Corporate Customers. After that, he was responsible for building up the direct sales as Head of Field Service and Deputy Head of Partner & Corporate Sales, before moving to his current role.
When he joins us in September, Fitim Arifi will take over as Head of the Market business area, replacing Carlo Vegetti, who has held this role since 2012 and will retire in the autumn of 2026.
Florian Grunholzer has been Chief Financial Officer, deputy CEO and member of the Executive Board of Orion Rechtsschutz-Versicherung in Basel since 2019. From 2008 to 2019, he held various positions in the finance division and sales management at Zurich Versicherung. During his career, he has gained extensive experience in financial and operational controlling and led various sales-related and operational initiatives in the area of sales & distribution. He began his career at Bank Vontobel while studying business administration at the University of Zurich.
Until Florian Grunholzer takes over on 1 November 2026, Daniel Studer will continue to head up the Finance, Underwriting & Corporate Customer Business area on an interim basis. He took over this role in December 2025 following the departure of the former head of the business area, Christian Meindl.
