Comparis survey: good result

Vivao Sympany has been ranked second in the comparis customer satisfaction survey.


Overall, the last few years have seen little change in policyholders' satisfaction with their health insurers. Despite the looming premium increase, policyholders remain satisfied with their health insurers this year too. The latest annual survey by comparis.ch shows that on average a policyholder rates their health insurer with a score of 4.8, just as in previous years. Policyholders in the cantons of Aargau, Basel Stadt and Lucerne show the highest levels of satisfaction, while customers in French-speaking Switzerland are generally less satisfied with their health insurer.

High levels of satisfaction amongst Vivao Sympany customers
In most cases, customer satisfaction is reflective of the premiums of the respective insurer. Basel Stadt, however, is different: in this canton policyholders pay the highest premiums anywhere in Switzerland, but are among the most satisfied.

Together with Agrisano and Swica, Vivao Sympany was ranked second in the survey, scoring 5.1. This represents an improvement of 0.1 points compared to the results of last year’s survey.

The average score of all of the health insurers assessed was 4.8, weighted according to the number of members. This average has seen little change in the last five years. Richard Eisler, CEO of the online comparison service comparis.ch, summarises the results as follows: “The fact that on average policyholders continue to rate the services of their health insurer as 'satisfactory' shows that customer service works.”

Survey criteria
In April 2009, nearly 3,400 comparis.ch users assessed their health insurers on the friendliness and ability of the staff, the comprehensibility of the customer information and the quality of invoicing. An overall score was calculated for each health insurer based on the individual assessments (a score between 5.5 and 6 is “very good”; scores under 4 are “unsatisfactory”).
